About us
January 1, 2011 The National Centre of Knowledge on Disability and Social Psychiatry (ViHS), was a reality. ViHS is a merger of The Danish Resource Centre on Congenital Deafblindness and 15 other resource/knowledge centres working with disabilities and social psychiatry.
The centre is organised as a location of The National Board of Social Services directly under The Ministry of Social Affairs in Denmark.
ViHS has three locations: one in Copenhagen, one in Aarhus and one in Aalborg. The office in Aalborg focuses on congenital deafblindness and is located at the Centre for Deafblindness and Hearing Loss, which is the biggest service provider in Denmark for persons with congenital deafblindness.
The national centre is focusing on making the best possible knowledge on congenital deafblindness available for professionals, families, local or regional authorities or just an interested citizen.
Our main goal is to collect, to adapt, to develop and to spread knowledge on congenital deafblindness.
Some of the activities we do to obtain these goals are:
- initiating and supporting projects
- developing staff development programs
- initiating and supporting networks
- publishing books, reports and other publications
- running a library available for families and professionals in Denmark
- running an updated homepage
